Senior Purchasing Manager- Permanent
The Senior Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading purchasing and supply chain activities supporting the Company's Metal Fabrication operations. Working closely with the Director of Purchasing, the Senior Purchasing Manager develops and executes sourcing strategies, manages supplier relationships, negotiates commercial agreements, and ensures continuity of supply across multiple manufacturing facilities throughout North America.
As part of a shared services purchasing organization, the Senior Purchasing Manager collaborates closely with the Senior Purchasing Manager, Automotive, Corporate Buyers, and site-based purchasing personnel to leverage purchasing synergies, standardize processes, reduce costs, and improve supplier performance across the enterprise.
The role acts as a key business partner to Operations, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Plant Leadership teams to support business objectives through effective procurement and supply chain management. Reports to the Director of Purchasing.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for raw materials, fabricated components, indirect materials, consumables, capital equipment, and services supporting Metal Fabrication operations.
- Lead supplier selection, evaluation, qualification, and ongoing performance management activities.
- Establish and maintain strategic supplier relationships that drive quality, cost competitiveness, innovation, and service performance.
- Conduct supplier business reviews and implement corrective actions when performance targets are not achieved.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks through sourcing diversification and contingency planning.
Commercial Management & Negotiation
- Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing, terms and conditions, delivery requirements, and service expectations. (Including Production items, raw material, purchased parts, services as well as service agreements and MRO)
- Lead and Monitor Raw Material agreement negotiations.
- Monitor MRO Agreements and Consumption at a facility level
- Drive annual cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for cost avoidance, productivity improvements, and value engineering.
- Support contract development, review, and administration to mitigate any risks
- Partner with internal stakeholders to negotiate supplier agreements that align with operational and financial objectives.
Operational Purchasing Leadership
- Support purchasing activities across multiple manufacturing facilities in North America
- Work closely with plant purchasing personnel to ensure alignment with corporate purchasing strategies and policies.
- Review supplier performance, and material availability to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Review releasing practices across manufacturing facilities
- Assist in resolving supply shortages, commercial issues, logistics challenges, and supplier escalations.
- Lead customs inquiries for the group including but not limited to B2 filings, amendment, requests for duty drawback, tariff classification revisions, country of origin corrections or value amendments
- Calculate impact on duties, tariffs and price conversions in accordance with trade laws.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Production Planning, Quality, Finance, and Sales teams to support customer requirements and business objectives.
- Participate in new business launches, product transfers, capital projects, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Support quotation and estimating processes by providing supplier quotations, market intelligence, and cost analysis
- Collaborate with the Automotive Purchasing group to identify opportunities for supplier leverage and purchasing standardization across both divisions.
Process Improvement & Governance
- Ensure compliance with corporate purchasing policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Develop and monitor key purchasing metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, on-time delivery, inventory performance, and supply chain risk indicators.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve purchasing effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of purchasing best practices across the organization.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to buyers and site-based purchasing personnel.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing within the purchasing organization.
- Support development initiatives and succession planning efforts.
- Serve as a senior resource and subject matter expert for purchasing and supply chain matters.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Purchasing, Operations Management, or related field.
- Professional designation such as SCMP, CPSM, CPM, or equivalent is considered an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated success managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience purchasing steel, fabricated components, industrial supplies, or other manufacturing-related commodities is essential.
- Experience working within metal fabrication, automotive, industrial manufacturing

Where You Will Be Working:
Pay: $110,000.00-$135,000.00 per year
