Job Title: Laboratory Assistant - Casual Part Time
Description: The Laboratory Assistant supports daily laboratory operations by performing routine preparation, cleaning, and basic sample handling tasks. This role ensures the lab is organized, stocked, and operating efficiently while adhering to established quality and safety standards.
Role Responsibilities:
· Prepare reagents, standards, and reference materials following SOPs
· Perform basic sample preparation (e.g., filtration, drying, labeling)
· Clean and maintain laboratory glassware, equipment, and workspaces
· Maintain logs and documentation in accordance with quality requirements
· Assist with sample receipt, labeling, storage, and disposal
· Support inventory management, including restocking consumables and supplies
· Follow all laboratory safety and quality procedures
· Assist with sample archiving and general lab organization
· Support shipping and receiving of laboratory materials
· Conduct field sampling as required
· Perform general administrative and support tasks as assigned

· Laboratory areas are consistently clean, organized, and well-stocked
· Documentation is complete and compliant with quality standards
· Demonstrates reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to support the team

Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary science education an asset)
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Ability to follow SOPs and work instructions consistently
· Detail-oriented with good administrative skills
· Ability to manage time, multitask, and respond to changing work demands
· Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to complete a fit test for respirator
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
