Position Summary
Mechanical Service Technician to schedule, coordinate, perform press electrical disconnect/reconnect and controls installations, interfacing programming and service work related to electrical and controls at customer site.
Installations
- Reviewing of electrical installations to ensure all purchased options are installed and functioning properly prior to dispatch as required.
- Travel for installations and service in North America as required.
- Perform or supervise reconnects and interfacing of Eagle Presses at customer site.
- Supports the build of electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies on site.
- Directly involved in troubleshooting, problem solving and corrective actions for press control build processes, including completing all required documentation
- Perform a comprehensive check of dynamic checks for each system of the press at customer site.
- Participate in buyoff activities at customer facilities.
- Providing customers with start-up, operating and maintenance training.
- Maintaining excellent rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, and suggesting improved methods and techniques in a timely manner.
Service
- Travel for service work activities within North America and Mexico as required
- Provide warranty and service support for troubleshooting of electrical and controls systems.
- Implement system upgrades/retrofits for the service department.
- Documenting service activities by completing forms, reports, logs and records in a timely manner.
- Hiring and directing subcontractors as and when required
General
- Uphold all health & safety rules and regulations.
- Maintaining clean work area, equipment, and surroundings.
- Working with regulatory authorities to provide an approved system.
- Uphold all employment standards, policies, and procedures.
- Accepting responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the position.
- Perform any other related duties, as required by management and/or the executive.
Educational Requirements
- Completion of High School (required)
- Post secondary diploma in Trades an asset
- Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship and Journeyman status or the equivalent in experience (required)
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of AB PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Siemens controls would be an asset.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS office etc.
- Press knowledge and experience would be an asset.
- Ability to understand, analyze and interpret various engineering, and electrical drawings.
- Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to function effectively and productively in a team environment.
- Speak/read/write fluently in English.
- Knowledge and understanding of safety and safety precautions.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane safely and effectively.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Material handling –lift trucks, transfer carts or other means of transport
- Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions
