Job Title: Internal Auditor
Location: Peel Region, ON
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: $75,000-$85,000/year
Our client in Peel Region, ON is actively looking for an Internal Auditor to join their team.
Financial Review & Oversight:
- Perform detailed reviews of monthly and annual client financial statements
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal policies and applicable accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS, where applicable)
- Analyze financial data to identify unusual or inconsistent activity, including large variances, balance sheet discrepancies, bank reconciliations, utility sub-metering, and AR/AP sub-ledgers
- Provide technical guidance on complex accounting matters
- Act as the final quality checkpoint before financial reports are delivered to clients
- Ensure consistency across multiple properties, portfolios, or client entities
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve financial discrepancies
Process Improvement & Internal Controls:
- Develop, implement, and enforce standardized accounting procedures and internal controls
- Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain and update financial review checklists and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Reporting & Compliance:
- Monitor and track key quality metrics and compliance measures (e.g., error rates, adjustments, deadlines, reporting cycles)
- Prepare summary reports for senior management highlighting financial risks, trends, and key issues
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation is complete and accurate
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and corporate reporting requirements
