Job Overview
Scott's Quality Lawn Care is seeking a detail oriented individual who understands customer service and strives for professionalism in their work. Join our dynamic team as a Lawn Spray Technician or Hose Puller and play a vital role in maintaining healthy, vibrant lawns for our valued clients. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for assisting in applying lawn care products, including fertilizers, herbicides to ensure beautiful outdoor spaces for our clients.
For this job you must be physically fit and willing to work long hours and weekends if required. This job typically only averages out to approximately 25 hours per week, but there are opportunities for extra work above and beyond the duties required on spray crew if you are ambitious and impress us enough with your work ethic/can do attitude.
A Pesticide Authorized Assistant License or Full Applicator's License is a huge asset, but not required as you will be able to work under one of our in house Certified Applicators.
The reason this job averages out to about 25 hours per week is it is very weather dependent. We cannot spray lawns when winds are much over 15-20 km/hr, when the ground is wet, when rain is forecasted after the time we intend to do applications, or when temperatures are much above 27 degrees Celsius. With all this considered you can probably see why we average out to 25 hours per week. Some weeks can have significantly more or less than 25 hours mostly due to weather.
Typically we try to start as early in the morning as possible while temperatures are cool and the winds are still light. This means you will often be off by the afternoon. This isn't always the case though as weather can sometimes be more favorable in the afternoon, but in general expect to start early and finish early most days.
The spraying side of our business consists of 4 rounds of applications for our clients.
Round 1 (May) is our busiest time of the season where we try to fit in everyone's applications as quickly as possible. There will be days off due to weather, but expect to work every good weather day during May including weekends (even May long weekend). Once round 1 is complete it is not typical to work weekends, however we will work some weekends if the workload demands it or weather doesn't allow for a productive week. June has been very similar to round 1 due to the rain, where we've simply worked just about every good weather day. We are hoping for more predictable weather moving forward this season!
The spraying season typically stretches to the middle to the end of September. There is opportunity to work on the fall clean-up crew and snow removal crew in the winter as well.
If you think that you have what it takes to join a team that expects the best from everyone please apply today!
