Join Our Team as a Lead Hand - Receiving in Calgary, AB
Your Mission:
We are seeking a safety-focused and proactive Lead Hand - Receiving to support the day-to-day coordination of receiving operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership on the floor, helping to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, inspection and management of incoming organic feedstock, and compliance with operational, environmental, and safety standards
Here’s what an ordinary day of work might look like:
- Providing hands-on leadership and day-to-day support to the Receiving team to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant operations
- Coordinating traffic flow within the receiving area, including truck movements, bay door operations, and material receiving activities
- Inspecting incoming feedstock and managing non-conforming materials in accordance with facility procedures
- Supporting housekeeping, material flow, odour control, and environmental compliance initiatives
- Performing daily inspections, cleaning, and minor maintenance of receiving equipment and reporting maintenance concerns as required
- Organizing daily work activities, communicating priorities, and supporting team members in achieving operational goals
- Completing inspection records, logs, and operational reports while escalating safety, environmental, or equipment concerns as needed
- Promoting a strong safety culture by following and enforcing safe work practices, PPE requirements, and company policies
- Assisting with facility maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and other operational support activities as required
- Demonstrating a commitment to company values and fostering positive working relationships across the team
This job is for you if you:
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of supervisory or team lead experience in operations, traffic control, warehousing, logistics, or a similar environment
- Have experience in waste management, organics processing, composting, or industrial operations (considered an asset)
- Are familiar with working around or operating mobile equipment, collection vehicles, conveyors, grinders, screeners, or similar processing equipment
- Possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Are comfortable using computers to complete logs, inspections, and operational reports
- Have experience supporting, training, or mentoring team members
- Prioritize safety and thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced work environment
- Hold a valid driver's license
Compensation package:
- Hourly Wage: $22.50 + $1.50 premium
Schedule: 6:30am – 6:00pm, 5 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 5 days off
