What You’ll Do;
As a Store Manager in Training, you will develop the leadership skills and business acumen needed to drive store success while delivering an exceptional customer experience. Through hands-on coaching and mentorship, you will learn to lead high-performing teams, execute operational excellence, and achieve sales and profitability goals. You will play a key role in developing associates, creating an engaging store environment, optimizing merchandising and inventory execution, and fostering a customer-first culture.
This role is designed to prepare future retail leaders to confidently manage all aspects of store operations while embodying our values and commitment to growth, performance, and service excellence.
- Lead store operations and execute Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities to ensure exceptional customer service and achievement of sales goals.
- Coach, develop, and motivate associates on service standards, selling techniques, product knowledge, and company initiatives.
- Recruit, onboard, train, and retain high-performing team members while supporting succession and career development.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, payroll administration, and workforce planning to align with business needs and traffic trends.
- Conduct performance management activities, including coaching, evaluations, corrective actions, and recognition programs.
- Communicate company goals, policies, procedures, and operational updates while ensuring team compliance.
- Maintain store presentation, visual merchandising, and brand standards to deliver an engaging customer experience.
- Monitor business performance, KPIs, and operational metrics, adjusting strategies and resources to maximize results.
- Oversee inventory management, stock accuracy, receiving processes, store maintenance, and overall operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with safety, loss prevention, asset protection, cash handling, and security procedures, including cycle counts, audits, and store lockup protocols.
- Collaborate with business partners and leadership to address operational issues, identify opportunities, and drive continuous store improvement.
What You'll Bring;
- Minimum of college or university degree or equivalent work experience;
- 5-7 years of management experience with strong emphasis on big box retail management.
- Knowledge of and experience in a computerized environment, including the operation and administration of a Point of Sale (POS) and inventory management computer systems.
- Strong financial management skills including the ability to review and analyze financial statements.
- Excellent leadership and management skills including the ability to recruit, hire, train, motivate, evaluate, discipline, and develop staff.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to motivate others.
- Proficiency in base computer use, including e-mail, MS Word or other word processing program and Excel or other spreadsheet program.
Work Hours
Flex schedule - some weekends and evenings.
Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
