About the Opportunity
We are seeking a driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager to lead revenue growth initiatives for our Calgary hotel portfolio, including Marriott-branded properties. This role is ideal for an experienced hospitality sales professional who thrives on building relationships, generating new business, and driving measurable revenue performance.
The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding corporate accounts, negotiated rate programs, extended stay business, project and crew accommodations, and local partnerships throughout the Calgary market.
Key Responsibilities
● Proactively prospect and generate new corporate, group, extended stay, and local business opportunities
● Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, travel buyers, and local organizations
● Develop and execute strategic sales plans to increase occupancy, ADR, and overall revenue performance
● Conduct outside sales calls, networking meetings, property tours, and client presentations
● Respond strategically to qualified RFPs, proposals, and group opportunities
● Maintain accurate CRM activity, sales pipeline tracking, and account production reporting
● Prepare weekly sales activity reports and monthly forecasting reports for ownership and management
● Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and local demand generators
● Work closely with hotel operations teams to ensure successful execution of client expectations
● Support brand initiatives and maximize opportunities through Marriott sales channels and programs
What We Are Looking For
● Minimum 3 years of hotel or hospitality sales experience
● Marriott or branded hotel experience preferred
● Strong business development and prospecting skills
● Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
● Experience with forecasting, reporting, and pipeline management
● Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities
● Knowledge of Calgary market segments and demand generators considered an asset
● Experience with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and hotel sales platforms
