We're looking for a talented and motivated Project Designer to join our growing team. This role combines creative design, project management, and client collaboration, providing the opportunity to see projects through from initial concept to final installation.
Position Overview
As a Project Designer, you will be responsible for managing signage and wayfinding projects from concept through completion. You'll work closely with clients, consultants, fabricators, and installers to develop innovative, functional signage solutions while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop creative signage and wayfinding concepts that align with client goals and architectural intent.
- Prepare schematic designs, presentation drawings, and detailed design packages.
- Interpret architectural and interior design drawings to develop signage programs.
- Plan sign locations, messaging, numbering systems, and wayfinding strategies.
- Specify materials, finishes, and fabrication methods.
- Coordinate projects through design, approvals, fabrication, and installation.
- Conduct site visits to verify field conditions, measurements, and installation requirements.
- Communicate directly with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Identify project risks and proactively develop solutions.
- Track project time, billable hours, and project documentation.
- Support quality control throughout fabrication and installation.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience managing multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of architectural drawing sets and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Preferred
- Experience in architectural signage, environmental graphic design (EGD), or wayfinding.
- Knowledge of signage materials, fabrication methods, and installation practices.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (ADA and/or CSA B651).
- Experience using SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar 3D software.
- Experience with SignAgent or other signage management software.
