We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Coordinator to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a safety professional who is passionate about creating safe workplaces, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development and promotion of a positive, proactive health and safety culture
- Assisting with and providing leadership on inspections, risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations
- Maintaining and supporting the company's COR certification program
- Tracking and maintaining HSE training records for all employees
- Supporting Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and related documentation
- Maintaining, updating, and implementing the company's Health and Safety Program
- Ensuring compliance with applicable health and safety legislation across all project sites
- Supporting the development and implementation of company-wide HSE training initiatives
- Providing regular health and safety reporting and recommendations to senior management
- Ensuring all required health and safety documentation is completed and maintained
- Identifying opportunities to improve HSE programs and overall company performance
- Overseeing compliance with the Ministry of Transportation's CVOR program requirements
- Identifying and mitigating workplace hazards through ongoing assessments of environmental, operational, and occupational conditions
- Conducting regular site visits to monitor compliance with company policies and legislative requirements
- Developing and maintaining site-specific health and safety plans
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- University degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of Canadian health and safety legislation and construction industry requirements
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, investigations, and risk assessments
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills
- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- COR Internal Auditor certification or experience maintaining COR certification
- Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) CVOR requirements
- Previous experience in construction, environmental services, demolition, or hazardous materials industries
- Relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, NCSO, CHSC)
