Reporting to the Terminal Manager, the Local Driver is responsible for transporting cargo locally based on customer and company needs, with occasional cross-border driving to the U.S. This role requires accountability, dependability, initiative, and a strong commitment to customer service.
Key Responsibilities

Transport cargo within the assigned region

Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including tarping, chaining, and tie-downs

Assist with loading and unloading of trucks

Perform trip inspections on equipment and loads to ensure safety compliance

Verify all load documentation for accuracy and completeness

Maintain required records including logbooks, bills of lading, and PO numbers
-
Deliver product and paperwork in a professional and timely manner
-
Comply with all safety regulations including hours of service, occupational health and safety, and weight and dimension requirements

Perform occasional cross-border driving to the U.S.

Provide occasional assistance in the yard

Complete other duties as assigned

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Class 1A or Commercial Driver’s License

Minimum two years of long-haul or cross-border driving experience preferred

Strong knowledge of transportation safety and regulatory requirements

Proven reliability, accountability, and strong work ethic

Professional communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

Ability to lift, secure, and tarp loads as required
