Job Overview
The Part-Time Artisan- Studio Assistant role includes hand stitching, labeling, product preparation, caring for studio equipment, and training on looms. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has strong attention to detail, and wants to grow with a creative, collaborative team.
Bondon is a small artisan company creating beautiful, natural-fibre hats for the sauna. We are looking for a thoughtful, creative person to join us in our bright country studio.
You do not need to be an expert or have professional production experience. We are happy to train the right person.
Duties may include:
- Hand stitching and finishing sauna hats
- Labeling, tagging, and preparing products
- Supporting packing and light studio production
- Learning to operate and care for our knitting machines
- Keeping work areas, tools, and equipment organized and production-ready
- Assisting with other fibre-based and handmade production tasks
You may be a good fit if you have experience or an interest in any of the following:
- Hand sewing
- Knitting
- Crocheting
- Needlepoint or embroidery
- Needle felting or other fibre crafts
- Working carefully with your hands
You do not need to have all of these skills. What matters most is that you:
- Have strong attention to detail
- Enjoy making things by hand
- Are patient, reliable, and willing to learn
- Take pride in creating beautiful, well-made pieces
- Would enjoy being part of a kind, collaborative team
- Are excited by the idea of growing with a small artisan company
The role will begin with approximately 5–10 hours per week and may grow to around 20 hours per week as you become trained and production increases. Hours are flexible.
The work takes place in a bright country studio located between Brighton and Colborne, Ontario, so reliable transportation is required.
