About the Position
The Accountant Clerk will provide support to the Finance, Accounting, and Administration group. They will assist with all accounting functions, banking, GST returns. This role requires the highest level of confidentiality, strong Microsoft Office skills, and excellent attention to detail.
This is an in-office position 1.0 FTE with occasional overtime required and expected. Suitable for both a new accountant looking to grow their career or an experienced professional looking to bring their experience to a collaborative, high performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
- Process and reconcile transactions across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking/credit card accounts, including preparation of related journal entries
- Prepare month-end journal entries including accruals, prepaids, and other recurring entries in accordance with the close schedule
- Maintain the fixed asset schedule and prepare related depreciation entries
- Support GST/HST compliance by preparing and reconciling sales tax remittances
- Process employee expense reports, ensuring accurate coding and supporting documentation
- Maintain vendor and supplier records, including new vendor setup and responding to payment inquiries
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation to support internal and external audit requirements
- Assist the team with other duties as required
Compliance & Administration Support:
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist with document retention and filing requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Admin:
- Purchasing required supplies for Finance
- Maintain prepaid postage machine
- Support for off-site storage
- Scan and file all invoices and cheques
Other:
- Attend an annual RAC 2 information session.
- Other duties as required

Education:
- Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance
Experience:
- Meaningful experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role can be a substitute for educational qualifications;
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of full-cycle accounting practices
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly excel
- Experience using Quickbooks Online preferred
- Excellent organization skills and capability to meet deadlines
- High level of confidentiality
- Adaptable to changing technologies and processes in a dynamic environment;
- Pursues ongoing system improvement and growth mindset
- Works collaboratively with others, internally and externally
Working Conditions:
- Open office environment shared with other staff members
