Cook – Leaside, Toronto, ON
The Career Foundation is currently looking for a Cook on behalf of one of our employer partners located in Leaside, Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced culinary professionals who enjoy preparing quality meals and working in a team-oriented environment.
Position Summary:
The Cook will be responsible for preparing meals for residents and guests while maintaining food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cooking and committed to delivering excellent food service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans and dietary requirements
- Ensure food is ready and served on time
- Portion food appropriately based on resident needs
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen
- Follow food safety and handling procedures at all times
- Support catering and special events as required
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain production records
- Work collaboratively with the culinary team
- Assist in maintaining inventory and kitchen organization
- Follow workplace health and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking experience in a restaurant, hotel, banquet hall, or retirement residence preferred
- Food Safety Certification required
- Culinary education is considered an asset
- WHMIS certification is an asset
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Police background check may be required
