Job Summary
The Director of Care is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing the quality of resident care within assisted living and nursing home environments. This position ensures that residents receive compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The Director of Care leads a team of caregiving staff, manages operational functions, and promotes a safe, respectful, and engaging environment for seniors requiring assistance with daily activities, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to individual resident needs, including dementia and senior care.
- Supervise and mentor caregiving staff to ensure high standards of service delivery, including supervising experience and leadership development.
- Oversee medication administration processes to ensure safety and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to manage health assessments, treatments, and emergency procedures.
- Manage staffing schedules, training programs, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated and competent care team.
- Monitor budgetary allocations related to care services and operational expenses.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing assisted living and nursing home facilities.
- Promote a positive environment that emphasizes dignity, respect, and personalized attention for residents.
- Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to support residents’ well-being.
Requirements
- Current RPN registration in good standing (CNO)
- 3+ years of leadership experience in long-term care or retirement living
- Strong knowledge of applicable provincial regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Compassionate, resident-focused approach
- Occupational Joint Health & Safety certificate
- Strong knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) standards and outbreak management
Pay: $36.00-$39.00 per hour
