Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Personal Tax Preparer with 1 to 2 years of experience to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and preparing T1 personal income tax returns.
This role is best suited for someone who is comfortable managing bookkeeping files while also assisting with personal tax preparation during tax season.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
- Prepare and maintain bank reconciliations, general ledger entries, and financial reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping procedures
- Prepare GST/HST filings and payroll remittances
- Prepare T1 personal income tax returns for individuals
- Review and organize personal tax documents, including T4s, T5s, RRSP slips, medical expenses, donations, rental income, self-employment income, tuition slips, and other supporting documents
- Communicate with clients regarding missing information, bookkeeping questions, and personal tax matters
- Work closely with the senior accountant to ensure accurate bookkeeping and tax filings
- Maintain organized and accurate client records
Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of bookkeeping and/or personal tax preparation experience
- Previous experience preparing T1 personal income tax returns is required
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online is required
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures
- Familiarity with Canadian personal tax matters
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client files
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an accounting or tax firm
- Experience with personal tax software
- Knowledge of payroll software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with GST/HST filings and payroll remittances
Assessment Process
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete a case study assessment to demonstrate their proficiency in bookkeeping, month-end entries, bank reconciliations, QuickBooks, and basic T1 personal tax preparation.

Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
