Your Opportunity:
The Administrative Support III for FMC Area 2, Gastroenterology (GI) and Hepatology (HEP) Clinic will perform clerical duties required to support a very busy outpatient/ambulatory clinic. Responsibilities and duties include general reception and clerical duties, assisting patients in completing various forms and consents, triaging telephone calls and correspondence, clinic appointment reminder calls, and processing selected physician's orders. Area 2 is a very busy, fast-paced environment, and the ability to work within a team environment is essential to this position. Customer service, problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail are necessary to succeed in this role. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth flow of the Clinic through ongoing respectful and professional communication and coordination with patients and all team members. The Clinic's current hours of operation are between 06:45 and to18:00 Monday through Friday and may change to meet clinic demand. Opportunities may exist to cross train to other clerical positions within the department such as GI Central Access Triage, or Endoscopy Unit Clerk.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of Medical Office Assistant/Unit Clerk course required. Completion of medical terminology course. Minimum of 2 years in a medical clerical position required. Previous outpatient/ambulatory clinic experience required. Accurate keyboarding skills with min. of 45 wpm. Ability to work with various types of office equipment, including fax machines, photocopiers, and printers required. Professional phone etiquette and fostering ongoing positive patient and colleague relationships are necessary. Fluency in English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication required. Organization, prioritization and time management are essential to this position. Must be able to function in a high volume, fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with frequent interruptions. Physical requirements include manual dexterity, frequent walking and ability to carry a weight of up to 15 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of GI/Hep terminology, procedures, and tests preferred. Experience in referral management including appointment and procedure booking preferred. Experience with Connect Care and Netcare preferred.
