Job Summary
The Kitchen Chef & Kitchen Helper is responsible for assisting with food preparation, cooking, kitchen cleaning, and maintaining sanitation standards in a busy all-you-can-eat BBQ and hotpot restaurant. This role supports daily kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, cooking menu items when required, and ensuring kitchen equipment and work areas remain clean and organized.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards when required.
- Assist with basic kitchen preparation such as washing vegetables, cutting ingredients, portioning food, and organizing kitchen supplies.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicer machines and other food preparation equipment safely and properly.
- Wash plates, bowls, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment by hand and using a commercial dishwashing machine when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and preparation areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of walk-in coolers and freezers.
- Dispose of food waste, garbage, and recycling according to restaurant procedures.
- Clean sinks, dish racks, kitchen equipment, and food preparation areas regularly.
- Assist with cleaning kitchen floors, work areas, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure proper food storage and handling in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Follow all workplace safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced all-you-can-eat restaurant kitchen environment.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Exposure to heat, steam, kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
Requirements
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to work well with kitchen staff as part of a team.
- Previous kitchen experience is an asset but not required.
