Role Description & Duties
The Bookkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based out of Brickhouse Guitars in Kitchener-Waterloo, ON and The Octave Music Centre in Guelph, ON. We are looking for someone to do a few days a week in Kitchener-Waterloo, and a few days a week in Guelph, so reliable transportation is required. The Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, including managing accounts payable & receivable, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and cash flow tracking.They will also prepare monthly and annual financial statements, and other duties as required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Strong financial management skills, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reports
- Experience with small business software (e.g. Quickbooks, Xero, or similar) and point-of-sale and inventory management systems
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and basic tax compliance for small businesses.
- Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to identify process improvements and maintain internal controls.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to working with ownership, staff, and external accountants
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
- Prior experience in a retail e-commerce, or inventory-focused environment
- Interest in music or musical instruments is an advantage
Pay: $47,500.00 per year
