Job Summary
The Tillsonburg Thunder are seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and experienced Head Equipment Manager for the upcoming 2026/2027 OEHL season. Operating out of the Tillsonburg Memorial Arena, the Equipment Manager plays a vital role in team operations, ensuring players and coaching staff are fully equipped for peak performance and safety.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in hockey operations who thrives in a fast-paced, competitive dressing room environment. You will work closely with the General Manager and Coaching Staff to oversee all apparel, protective gear, skate maintenance, and travel logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Skate & Equipment Maintenance: Perform precise skate sharpening, profiling, and rivet replacement. Handle emergency equipment repairs (repairs to jerseys, pant shells, gloves, Helmets, etc.) before, during, and after games.
Locker Room & Game Day Prep: Set up the home and away dressing rooms to elite standards. Ensure all player gear, jerseys, socks, and apparel are properly laid out prior to arrival.
Inventory & Asset Management: Maintain a meticulous inventory of all team assets, including custom team gloves, jerseys, sticks, laundry tape, and medical supplies. Coordinate ordering and replenishment with team management.
Travel & Logistics Coordination: Oversee the packing, secure transport, and unpacking of all team gear for bi-weekly road games across the OEHL. Ensure no equipment is left behind.
Laundry & Sanitation: Manage the cleaning, drying, and sanitizing of jerseys, socks, undergarments, and towels after every session to maintain hygiene standards.
Bench Management: Stand on or near the bench during games to provide immediate assistance with broken sticks, blown edges, or protective gear failures.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience: Previous experience in hockey operations or equipment management is heavily preferred (Junior A/B/C, Senior, or elite minor hockey levels).
Technical Proficiency: Proven expertise in operating a commercial skate sharpener and handling minor hockey equipment repair tools.
Availability: Must commit to the full 2026/2027 season schedule, including Friday/Saturday night games, practices, and travel dates from October through the playoffs.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift, push, and carry heavy equipment bags, trunks, and sticks (up to 50 lbs) on a regular basis.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and a professional attitude. Must work effectively with passionate players, coaches, and management officials.
Reliability: High level of punctuality, organization, and a sharp attention to detail.
