We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Float to join our team. As a Float Educator, you will provide support in both classrooms as needed, helping to maintain ratios, cover staff absences and breaks, and ensure the smooth operation of the centre. This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys working with different age groups and collaborating closely with a small team.The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, classroom experience, and the ability to adapt to different educational settings. Must have experience working with children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities. Responsibilities
- Support the daily operation of both classrooms.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children.
- Assist in planning and implementing engaging, play-based learning experiences.
- Give program time to staff, cover breaks, vacations, sick days, and other absences.
- Support children’s learning, development, and well-being through observation and responsive interactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow centre policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), health and safety regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Assist with classroom setup, cleaning, organization, and transitions throughout the day.
Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Diploma.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and work effectively across multiple age groups
- Food Handler certificate.

Experience
- Prior classroom experience in early childhood education or childcare settings is preferred
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special educational needs is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with children, parents, and colleagues
- Proficiency in computer operation for documentation, planning, and communication tasks
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices in teaching young children
- Organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Support individualized learning plans, especially for children with special needs or disabilities
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment
- Maintain accurate documentation of children's progress and daily activities
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children's development and classroom events
- Assist in classroom management, including behavior guidance and conflict resolution
- Implement curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards
- Utilize computer skills for record keeping, lesson planning, and communication purposes
- Demonstrate leadership by guiding less experienced staff or interns when necessary
- Manage time efficiently to ensure all responsibilities are met within scheduled hours
Pay: $26.00-$27.00 per hour
