Position: FinOps SME (Cloud Cost Optimization Release Engineer)

This job posting is for an existing, active vacancy and we are looking to hire a FinOps SME with strong Cloud Cost Optimization and Release Management expertise.
Summary:
We are looking for a Cloud Cost Optimization Release Engineer who will act as the single point of contact for tracking and optimizing cloud cost across multiple projects within the customer landscape. The candidate will coordinate cloud optimization initiatives globally, track dependencies, and ensure timely execution of planned releases while collaborating with business and technical teams.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Track and manage cloud optimization initiatives across multiple projects.
- Act as a central point of coordination for cloud cost-related activities.
- Proactively engage stakeholders to track open items and ensure closure.
- Provide regular updates to management on project status and risks.
- Establish and maintain weekly cadence meetings with global and local teams.
- Plan and execute release activities related to cloud cost optimization.
- Collaborate with engineering and business teams to manage dependencies.
- Monitor cloud spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure optimization.
- Handle invoice re-pricing based on project-specific consumption.
- Implement budget alerts and anomaly detection for cost fluctuations.
- Support cloud migration initiatives with optimized architecture and cost-efficiency.
- Maintain detailed tracking of dependencies, risks, and action items.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Cloud FinOps / Project Management.
- Strong experience in tracking, coordination, and stakeholder management.
- Expertise in cloud cost monitoring, analytics, and optimization strategies.
- Experience with budget alerts and anomaly detection mechanisms.
- Exposure to cloud migration (On-Prem to Cloud) with cost-efficient architecture planning.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Strong proactive approach in managing dependencies and closing tasks.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred:
- Strong technical background in cloud engineering or operations.
- FinOps certification or relevant experience.
- Experience with FinOps tools such as:
