Medical Receptionist – Full-Time (6-Month Maternity Leave Contract with Potential for Permanent Employment)
Overview
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our busy Family Physician's office for a 6-month maternity leave contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced medical office professional to become part of a supportive team. While this position is initially a temporary contract, there is potential for a permanent full-time position for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our office runs smoothly while providing exceptional service to our patients and supporting our physicians.
Responsibilities
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Schedule patient appointments and respond to patient inquiries.
- Register and check in patients.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records using OSCAR Pro.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with all privacy regulations.
- Process faxes, scanning, photocopying, and filing of medical documents.
- Collect and process payments for uninsured (non-OHIP) services.
- Perform basic patient vitals and assist with processing laboratory specimens.
- Assist physicians with third-party forms, referrals, and medical letters.
- Provide general administrative support to physicians and the clinical team.
- Maintain a welcoming, professional, and organized reception area.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a busy medical office is required. (1+ years)
- Experience with OSCAR Pro EMR is considered a strong asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with professional telephone etiquette.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Dependable, punctual, and adaptable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Job Details
Position: Full-Time (6-Month Maternity Leave Contract)
Compensation: Competitive and based on experience.
Expected Hours: 35-40 hours per week
Schedule
- Monday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: Off
- Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Sunday: Off
