Horizon Maritime Northern Services ltd. are looking to hire a Welding Department Supervisor for support of the Marine Transport Services Shipyard, located in Hay River, Northwest Territories.
The Supervisor, Welding Department oversees the daily operations of the welding team responsible for maintaining and repairing the Marine Transportation Services (MTS) fleet and infrastructure. This role ensures that all welding, fabrication, and structural repairs comply with Transport Canada, Classification Societies such as Lloyd’s Register and ABS, and Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) standards.
The Supervisor directs Journeyperson Welders and Apprentices, coordinates work with project teams and MTS management, and ensures the delivery of high-quality welding services. This position requires extensive confined space work, ensuring all personnel are trained and certified for such environments. Additionally, the Supervisor coordinates activities with the MTS Safety Department, MTS trades departments, and Terminal staff to ensure alignment with operational and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson/red-seal certification
- CWB SMAW Certified welder
- CWB Welding Supervisor Certification
- Class 5 Drivers License
- Minimum of 5 years Experience in supervising welders in a marine, industrial, or shipyard environment.
