Engineering Link offers building envelope and structural engineering services as they relate to the science of the built environment. We are an industry leader in building condition assessments, capital planning and asset/portfolio management. Engineering Link has offices in Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver with projects nationwide. Currently, we are seeking a Building Assessment Specialist to join our Vancouver office. We are growing in various markets across Canada and travel will be required in this role.
The ideal candidate is
-Experienced conducting Baseline Property Condition Assessments in accordance with the ASTM2018-24 "Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments”.
-A generalist who can manage a large volume and wide variety of projects.

- Understands the big-picture goals on a project and delivers high quality work on time.
You must have experience with
- Roofing.
- Building Envelope.
- Structure.
- Site pavements.
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Accessibility compliance and design.
- Concrete restoration.
- Capital planning.
- All asset classes (office, residential, retail, industrial).
You can lead
- Building Condition Assessments.
- Capital planning.
- Develop multi-year capital plans and budgets.
- Risk evaluations for roofing.
- Assessment and lifecycle management of building assets.
- Compliance with industry standards, regulations, AODA legislation.
Skills
- Collaborating with peers to deliver quality solutions to clients.
- Acting as a reviewer to provide internal peer review. This may involve reviewing property condition assessments, reserve fund studies, and other building science designs.
- Developing strong client relationships, and tailoring solutions that align with their goals.
- Committing to professional development and actively staying up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in building science and real estate transactions.
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and impactful reports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizational and time management abilities.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading building condition assessments, creating meaningful data and recommending accurate scopes of work.
- Ensure reports are completed on time and in advance of the purchase waiver date.
- Provide strategic advice to the Leadership Team on capital investment decisions, risk management, and lifecycle planning.
- Able to manage a large volume of information and data sets. The ideal candidate must have excellent data analysis and interpretation skills and a strong commitment to data integrity.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in a building assessment role.
- Commercial Building Inspector experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary degree and/or diploma in Construction Management, Facilities Management, Engineering Technology, or any relevant education where capital planning was the primary focus.
- Relevant certifications in building science, project management, or related fields are a plus.
- Has a valid driver’s license.

Pay: $85,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
