Job Description:
Babel Language School inc. is a Canadian language school specializing in high-quality private and group language training.
We are seeking a dynamic, engaging, and professional English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for an immediate online private mandate with a 10-year-old child (Beginner to Elementary level).
The student is currently relocating from Brazil to Canada. The main objectives are to build her speaking confidence, develop conversational skills, and prepare her for day-to-day life and socializing in a Canadian school environment.
Critical Pre-Hiring Requirement (Non-negotiable):
Due to our client's strict safeguarding policy for minors, you must hold and provide an official Vulnerable Sector Check certificate (VSC / issued by the SPVM or another Canadian police service) that is less than 24 months old. Applications without a valid certificate already in hand cannot be considered for this immediate mandate.
Requirements:
- Location: 100% Online (Remote).
- Experience: Proven experience teaching English (ESL) to young children (Required).
- Skills: Ability to design highly interactive, engaging, and age-appropriate lessons focused on confidence-building and school readiness.
- Schedule Flexibility: Comfortable with a shifting schedule and evening hours (Eastern Time).
Course Details & Schedule (Eastern Time):
The course is 1-on-1 private tutoring, 2 times per week (1 hour per session), starting As Soon As Possible. The schedule is split into two phases:
- Phase 1 (Immediate until early September): Lessons will take place online while the student is in Brazil, preferred during morning hours.
- Phase 2 (Starting September): Once the family relocates to Toronto, lessons will shift to late afternoons/evenings. You must be available to teach between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm (Eastern Time).
This is a part-time, fixed-term independent contractor position.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
