Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our fashion retail team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for garment construction and customer service, with the ability to create and alter clothing to meet client specifications. Duties
- Alter and adjust garments for proper fit, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing
- Construct new garments based on customer requests or design specifications
- Operate sewing machines efficiently and safely to complete alterations and creations
- Assist customers by providing expert advice on fabric choices, styles, and fit options
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of tailored items
- Keep detailed records of alterations and custom orders for future reference
Experience
- Previous experience in fashion retail or tailoring is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Proficiency in sewing machine operation and garment construction techniques
- Strong sewing skills with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
- Basic math skills for measurements, pattern adjustments, and calculations related to garment fitting
- Knowledge of fabric types, sewing techniques, and garment fitting standards is a plus
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients of diverse backgrounds
