Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Bakery Assistant to join our vibrant locally wned family operated bakery team. This role involves supporting daily bakery operations, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and customer service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for baking and food industry experience, with a focus on creating delicious baked goods and providing exceptional customer experiences. We will also consider training someone if we feel they are the best fit.
Duties
- Assist in preparing and baking a variety of baked goods, including bread, pastries, and cakes
- Decorate cakes and desserts using cake decorating techniques to meet customer specifications
- Handle food preparation tasks such as mixing, portioning, and assembling ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and bakery area in compliance with food safety standards
- Package baked items for retail display or customer orders with attention to presentation quality
- Support the team in serving customers, taking orders, and providing friendly assistance
- Follow all food handling and safety protocols to ensure product quality and safety
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth bakery operations
Skills
- Experience in cake decorating is highly desirable
- Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, especially within the food industry
- Strong skills in food preparation, cooking, and baking techniques
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and food safety regulations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with packaging baked goods attractively for retail or take-out orders
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent at time management and self direction
