Lux Daycare and Out of School Care welcomes children from 0 months to 12 years old. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, child-centered, play-based learning programs rooted in the FLIGHT curriculum framework. Because maintaining exceptional care and seamless daily routines for our families is our top priority, we are building a reliable team of on-call educators to support our classrooms.
The Roles: On-Call Floating ECE & Summer Contract ECE
Are you an adaptable, high-energy educator who thrives in dynamic environments? We are seeking flexible educators to step in and support our team. Because staffing needs fluctuate across our center, these roles are perfect for someone looking for a diverse experience and a highly active schedule.
We are currently recruiting for two distinct paths (please specify your preference when applying):
- Option 1: On-Call / Casual Floater (Year-Round): Fill in where you are needed most on any given day. Perfect for those wanting a highly flexible schedule with frequent shift opportunities.
- Option 2: Summer Contract (June – August): A dedicated 2-3 month contract for July and August, featuring an early start in June for paid training, onboarding, and early vacation coverage. Great for students or seasonal educators!
In either role, you will float to where you are needed most - whether that is nurturing our littlest ones in the infant room or engaging school-aged children in our Out of School Care (O.S.C.) program.
Key Responsibilities
- Adaptability: Seamlessly transition between different classrooms (Infants, Toddlers, Preschool, Kindergarten, and O.S.C.) based on daily center needs.
- Program Support: Help implement engaging, play-based activities aligned with the FLIGHT framework in your assigned room for the day.
- Care & Supervision: Maintain a safe, supportive, and responsive environment that nurtures children's physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development.
- Daily Routines: Assist with daily schedules, including meal times, outdoor play, transitions, and rest periods.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with permanent classroom staff to maintain consistency for the children.
- Environment Upkeep: Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating learning space, including standard end-of-day room cleaning.
Who We Are Looking For
- Certified Professionals: We are accepting applications from Level 2 or Level 3 ECEs.
- True Floaters: Someone who genuinely enjoys working with a variety of age groups (0 months to 12 years) and can adapt their teaching style on the fly.
- Reliable & Responsive: Because shift needs often arise quickly, we need individuals who are reliable, easy to reach, and ready to jump in.
- FLIGHT Knowledge: A strong understanding of the FLIGHT curriculum framework is highly valued.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 certification in Early Childhood Education (Required).
- Experience working across multiple age groups (Infant room experience is a major asset).
- Current Child Care First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain quickly).
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance (dated within the last 6 months).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English.
