New Found Gold is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist – Regulatory Permitting & Approvals to
lead and manage all environmental approvals, permits, and associated commitments across all
New Found Gold sites. Reporting to the VP Sustainability, this role is accountable for the day-to-day
management of environmental permitting activities, regulatory engagement, and tracking of permit
conditions and commitments.
As Senior Environmental Scientist, you will be part of a dynamic team. Key Responsibilities include
but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage all environmental permits, approvals, amendments, and renewals.
- Prepare, submit, track, and manage environmental permit applications.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regulators and stakeholders.
- Review project documents to identify environmental approval requirements.
- Coordinate regulatory meetings and consultations.
- Track and manage all permit conditions, commitments, and compliance actions.
- Maintain permit trackers and repositories of submissions, comments, and responses.
- Direct preparation of environmental plans and reports required by approvals.
- Identify permitting risks and define mitigation measures.
- Other duties aligned with site health and safety leadership may be assigned as needed.
What You Bring to the Field:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or related
field.
- 8–10+ years of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory approvals.
• Strong working knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador mining regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with provincial and federal regulators.
• Excellent written, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
