Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Order Picker to join our warehouse team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately selecting and preparing orders for shipment, ensuring timely and efficient processing. This role requires familiarity with warehouse distribution processes, heavy equipment operation, and warehouse management systems. Prior experience in warehouse environments, including shipping & receiving and heavy lifting, is highly valued. The position offers an opportunity to work with various types of equipment such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and other heavy machinery, contributing to the smooth operation of our distribution center.
Duties
- Efficiently pick and assemble customer orders using warehouse management systems
- Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and other machinery safely and effectively
- Load and unload shipments, ensuring proper handling of goods
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update order statuses within the system
- Assist in shipping & receiving activities to ensure timely dispatch of orders
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment and work areas to adhere to safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily productivity goals
- Support warehouse organization by maintaining clean and orderly storage areas
- Participate in inventory counts and cycle counts as required
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or related fields
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and load/unload machinery
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for order picking and inventory control
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds or more)
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety protocols and procedures
- Experience with heavy equipment operation including forklift certification is preferred
- Excellent attention to detail for accurate order picking and inventory management
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Construction or industrial experience is a plus but not required
Working Conditions:
- Work in cold environments (refrigerated or freezer areas)
- Handling raw meat products
- Standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks
- Lifting heavy items (up to 20–30 kg / 45–65 lbs)
