Infrastructure Services is responsible for the planning, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of the University’s core technology infrastructure supporting teaching, learning, research, and administrative services across Simon Fraser University. The department manages enterprise networks, servers, storage, and related platforms that support critical university wide applications and digital services, ensuring services remain secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with institutional priorities. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the University, Infrastructure Services provides technical leadership in infrastructure architecture, cybersecurity, operational resilience, and technology modernization initiatives that support SFU’s academic and administrative mission.
About the Role
The Associate Director, Infrastructure Services leads administrative and technical services for networks, servers and storage, and oversees the operationalization of the delivery of key services to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff and committees across the University. The Associate Director develops strategies and plans for continuous improvement in the delivery of services related to networks, server infrastructure and storage that all major University-wide applications rely on. The role oversees a team of Tier II technical staff, ensuring service levels are maintained, secure and up to date to meet end user requirements
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic IT leader with extensive experience managing enterprise infrastructure services in a complex environment. They bring strong technical knowledge of networks, servers, storage, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems, combined with proven leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills. The successful candidate is an effective communicator and relationship builder who can lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. They demonstrate sound judgment, a customer service orientation, and the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions that support organizational goals.
