NICHE Pain Care is a community-based clinic in Thunder Bay providing accessible, compassionate, and evidence-informed care for children and youth living with chronic pain across Northwestern Ontario. Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our interdisciplinary team in a community-based chronic pain clinic. The NP will play an essential role in delivering comprehensive, trauma-informed care to children, youth, and adults living with chronic pelvic pain. This position combines advanced clinical practice, health promotion, and collaborative leadership to improve outcomes and access to care for an underserved population, specifically pelvic pain. Chronic pain care activities for pelvic pain care concurrently provided by the physicians of the clinic will be in tandem with NP care to support seamless pain care for patients across the lifespan.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients with chronic pelvic pain.
- Provide ongoing clinical management, including medication review, health education, and lifestyle counseling.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physician, OT, PT, psychologist, etc.) to ensure integrated, family-centered care.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify plans based on patient response and team input.
- Facilitate access to appropriate services, including mental health, school/workplace supports, and community resources.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of pain education programs for patients and their families/caregivers.
- Support program development, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure documentation meets all professional, legal, and ethical standards.
- Engagement in research activities is encouraged and supported.
- Assist with procedures or clinic flow for physicians performing interventional care procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as an NP, preferably with pediatric or chronic disease populations or primary care.
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic skills, with an emphasis on holistic care.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chronic pain, pediatric rehabilitation, or mental health.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices.
- Experience working in rural, remote, or Indigenous communities.
- Familiarity with health system navigation and interdisciplinary care planning.
Working Conditions
- Combination of in-person and virtual care delivery.
- Some regional travel may be required.
- Flexible schedule to meet patient and clinic needs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience ($135,636 to $142,700 annually)
