Shingle Preservation Technician — Bright Green Roof (Saskatoon & Area)
About Us
Bright Green Roof is Saskatoon's leader in shingle preservation. We apply a USDA-certified, plant-based rejuvenator that restores the oils in aging asphalt shingles — adding 15+ years of life to a roof at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Our work helps homeowners and businesses avoid costly tear-offs while delivering a noticeably restored, like-new roof.
Job Overview
We are hiring a Shingle Preservation Technician to join our crew. This is a hands-on, roof-based role focused on safely applying our shingle preservation treatment to residential and commercial roofs across Saskatoon and surrounding areas. You'll be the person on the roof — assessing the surface, preparing the area, and applying the product evenly and professionally. You're also the face of the company on every job, so a clean, courteous, customer-ready attitude matters as much as the technical work.
Roofing experience is required. This is not an entry-level position. You must be comfortable working at heights on pitched residential roofs and have a working knowledge of asphalt shingle systems.
What You'll Do
- Safely access and move across residential and commercial roofs of various pitches
- Inspect shingles to assess condition, identify problem areas, and confirm the roof is a suitable candidate for preservation treatment
- Prepare the roof surface prior to application (debris removal, masking off areas that should not be treated, protecting gutters, siding, landscaping, and customer property)
- Apply our plant-based shingle preservation product evenly and to spec using spray application equipment
- Operate and maintain spray equipment, hoses, and related application tools
- Follow all fall protection and Saskatchewan OHS safety protocols, including proper use of harnesses, anchors, and PPE
- Communicate professionally with homeowners on-site — answer basic questions about the process and represent Bright Green Roof well
- Work closely with the Ground Crew Technician to coordinate hose management, product supply, and site safety
- Complete job documentation (photos, notes, completion details) as required
- Keep the worksite clean and leave each property in better condition than you found it
What You Need
- Prior roofing experience is mandatory — you must have hands-on experience working on residential or commercial roofs
- Comfortable working at heights for full workdays
- Fall protection training or willingness to complete certification
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence and clean driving record
- Physically capable of climbing ladders, carrying equipment, and standing/walking on roofs for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail — even application and clean lines are what set a quality job apart
- Reliable, punctual, and able to show up presentable to a customer's home
- Able to work independently on the roof while staying coordinated with the ground crew
- Good communication skills and a customer-first attitude
Nice to Have
- Experience with spray application equipment (paint, coatings, sealers, or similar)
- Working at Heights certification already in hand
- First Aid / CPR certification
- Experience with customer-facing trades work
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience
- Training on our proprietary application process and equipment
- A growing, locally-owned company with a strong reputation
- Work that's lighter on the body than traditional roofing — no tear-offs, no shingle hauling
