Our menu combines traditional recipes with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Kitchen Manager to lead our back-of-house operations and ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance in our kitchen.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing staff, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and a passion for food and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations to ensure efficient workflow
- Coordinate food preparation and service to meet customer demand
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe kitchen environments
Staff Management
- Hire, train, and supervise kitchen staff
- Create staff schedules and manage labor costs
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development opportunities
- Foster a positive and productive team culture
Inventory & Cost Control
- Manage inventory, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Monitor food costs and implement cost control measures
- Reduce waste and ensure proper food storage and rotation (FIFO)
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels and usage
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations
- Conduct regular kitchen inspections and enforce hygiene standards
- Train staff on safety procedures and proper food handling
- Maintain required certifications and documentation
Menu & Quality Control
- Collaborate with ownership on menu planning and updates
- Standardize recipes and portion control
- Ensure consistency in taste, preparation, and presentation
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Cook, or similar role
- Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety standards
- Leadership and team management experience
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Touch Bistro or similar KDS and inventory management system considered an asset
- Food Safety Certification
