Overview
The primary responsibilities of Senior Project Estimator are to perform estimates for precast projects, improve and maintain our customer service, satisfaction, customer interaction and increase sales performance. This position is in a fast-paced work environment. Individuals must be able to work under pressure, unsupervised, while maintaining a great attention to detail.
Responsibilities

Interpret drawings and extract required information

Promote sales to existing clients and solicit new clients

Work with the company engineering department to ensure projects are processed accordingly

Provide technical services to contractors and consultants
-
Deliver technical presentations to consultants and contractors
-
Prepare costing and pricing of materials, labor, time, and equipment for all specialty products
-
Complete tenders and requests for quotations
-
Use tender websites to obtain new job information
-
Review & evaluate all tender drawings and specifications
-
Maintain complete records on all results of tenders and RFQ’s
-
Close bids and tenders
-
Assist in the interpretation of civil drawings and extract required information to allow completion of estimates
-
Coordinate, review and discuss the construction drawings and specifications with the Project Manager
-
Work with the production department to ensure projects are processed efficiently and correctly
-
Provide technical services to contractors, consultants and municipalities
-
Review, monitor and tender requirement risks
-
Work with outside sales staff to service our clients and firm up orders
-
Identify new markets and potential new products
-
Ongoing liaison and collaboration with the internal engineering and plant departments
-
Staying up to date on industry trends and the competition
-
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops
-
Demonstrate effective communication (verbal/written)

Qualifications
Education Required
-
College Diploma minimum; preferably a graduate of construction engineering technician, civil engineering technology program
-
Courses in Business Administration would be considered an asset
Years of Experience
-
Minimum 5-7 years estimating and/or sales experience in a construction or related industry, ideally with exposure to building construction
Specific Experience

Self-starter and energetic with a sense of urgency and competitive nature

Solid business acumen with excellent negotiation, problem solving and influential decision-making skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain trusted customer relationships

Sales experience required

Strong computer skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint

A team player with a positive attitude

Strong math skills
-
Must demonstrate self-assurance and self-confidence in a demanding atmosphere

Building construction experience is an asset

Willing and able to travel

Have a valid driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
