We are seeking an experienced Hydrovac Manager to take ownership of operations, lead field performance, and support project delivery and commercial execution.
What This Role Looks Like
This is a leadership position for an experienced hydrovac or utility operations professional who can confidently manage crews, drive daily execution, and support project and scheduling decisions across multiple job sites.
You will oversee hydrovac operations while also contributing to planning, pricing support, and resource coordination across internal and external projects.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Lead daily hydrovac operations including scheduling, dispatch coordination, and field execution
- Manage and support crews to ensure safe, productive, and efficient work across all job sites
- Provide clear direction on scope, safety requirements, and job expectations
- Act as primary operational contact for field issues, client coordination, and real-time problem solving
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, supervisors, and project teams
Project & Commercial Support
- Support project managers with hydrovac planning and resource allocation
- Provide input on unit rates, pricing, and job costing
- Support estimating, forecasting, and operational planning for upcoming work
- Help drive utilization, efficiency, and profitability across the hydrovac fleet
Safety & Compliance
- Lead and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S, COR, and client safety requirements
- Conduct inspections, operator evaluations, and support incident follow-up
- Ensure accurate completion of all required documentation and operational records
Fleet & Administration
- Coordinate maintenance and fleet readiness with the Shop Foreman
- Monitor equipment performance, utilization, and downtime
- Ensure units remain compliant, clean, and field-ready
- Support onboarding, training, and development of hydrovac operators
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5+ years hydrovac or utility construction experience
- Must have supervisory or management experience in field operations
- Strong understanding of underground utilities and excavation practices
- Experience with scheduling, dispatch, estimating, or project coordination considered an asset
- Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with clean abstract
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
