Summit Veterinary Pharmacy is currently looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to fill one part-time vacancy in our busy Pharmacy Operations Department.
Located in Aurora, Ontario, Summit has been supplying prescription compounded medications to veterinary clinics across Canada for over 20 years. Principle Responsibilities:
- Verify the chemical and in process checks, including all mathematical calculations.
- Complete the weekly prescription lots in a timely manner.
- Complete compounding of creams, ointments, and transdermal formulations. Operate and maintain equipment as per current Working Instructions or adhere to Manufacturers recommendations.
- Safely operate all of the equipment in the area, ensuring all applicable SOPs are being followed.
- Dispense the finished preparations in the appropriate packaging, ensuring that the container/syringes are clean.
- Label the compounded preparation correctly (lot labels and cautionary labels).
- Forward completed cream/ointment/gel preparations to the final check station.
- Stay abreast of any changes to the prescription lot.
- Assist in completing all daily and general cleaning tasks.
- Safely and accurately operate and weigh ingredients using analytical scales.
- Maintain an adequate stock of supplies and excipients.
- Perform and record all of the necessary inspections of the machinery prior to use.
- Liaise between TDG, Production, Management and Senior Management.
- Perform tasks in a consistent manner in accordance with applicable SOP’s and GCP’s while maintain a steady flow and a clean environment.
- Assist in other areas during slow periods as instructed by your Team Lead/Area Manager.
- Perform other tasks as required by management
Preferred Skills:
- Comprehension of USP <795> Pharmaceutical Compounding: Non-sterile Preparations.
- Comprehension of USP <800> Hazardous Drugs – Handling in Healthcare Settings
- Comprehension of NAPRA Non-Sterile Compounding Guidelines
- Computer and Pharmacy software knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Able to effectively prioritize and multi-task
- Willingness to learn in a constantly changing environment.
- Basic understanding of mechanics.
- Superb attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Punctual and the ability to maintain a good attendance record.
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Schedule:
- Tuesday to Thursday Approximately
- Shift schedule 10Am- 6:30PM
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Aurora, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Pay: $19.75-$22.63 per hour
