Position Overview
The Event Coordinator Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, organization, and execution of events within a community-focused nonprofit organization. This role involves coordinating logistics, assisting with vendor and partner communications, and supporting on-site event operations.
Designed as a learning opportunity, the position includes supervision, guidance, and skill development in event planning and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Coordination: Discussing event scope, format, and objectives with clients, sponsors, and organizing committees.
- Coordinating services such as venue arrangements, accommodations, transportation, catering, and other logistics.
- Event Management: Organizing registration, preparing promotional materials, and promoting the event.
- Planning entertainment and social activities Staff and Supplier.
- Oversight: Hiring, training, and supervising event support staff.
- Negotiating service contracts, approving supplier invoices, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Budget and Reporting: Establishing and managing budgets and maintaining financial records and preparing reports on event outcomes and expenses.

- Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing

- Ensures accuracy and consistency in all tasks, with a strong focus on quality
Assets (Nice to Have):
- Enrolled in or recently completed a diploma or degree in Event Management, Hospitality,
- Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
- Interest in event coordination, community engagement, and live event operations
- Knowledge of digital tools such as Slack, ClickUp, and Canva
- Experience or interest in working in sports, cultural events, or live activations.
Special Requirements:
This position is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), and
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
