Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Laser Table Operator to join our day shift team. The Laser Table Operator is responsible for safely setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality parts according to engineering drawings, work orders, and production schedules. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality, productivity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
· Set up, operate, and monitor CNC laser table to safely and efficiently process stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum parts.
· Read and interpret work orders, nesting layouts, and material specifications to ensure accurate production.
· Perform machine setup, calibration, nozzle/lens changes, and routine preventative maintenance to maximize equipment uptime.
· Inspect finished parts to verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with customer and company standards.
· Load and unload material using overhead cranes while maintaining an organized work area.
· Sort, identify, clean, and stage cut parts for downstream fabrication while minimizing scrap and rework.
· Troubleshoot minor machine issues, report equipment concerns promptly, and assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all D&R Custom Steel safety policies and Ministry of Labour requirements.
· Work collaboratively with Programming, Production, and Fabrication teams to meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
· Perform other related duties as assigned to support efficient shop operations.
Qualifications:
· Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
· Experience with Messer/Trumpf laser equipment is considered an asset.
· Ability to read and interpret nesting drawings and work orders.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
· Experience using overhead cranes is an asset.
· Ability to accurately use measuring tools such as tape measures.
· Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and productivity.
· Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or within a team.
· Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
