Parts Manager

Tom Smith Chevrolet Buick GMC is seeking an experienced, progressive, and customer-focused Parts Manager to lead our Parts Department.
As we prepare to move into our brand-new, state-of-the-art dealership, we are looking for a leader who embraces technology, continuous improvement, and innovative inventory management practices. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily operations of the Parts Department.
- Maximize inventory turns while maintaining exceptional inventory accuracy and minimal obsolete inventory.
- Develop purchasing strategies that optimize inventory investment and profitability.
- Grow retail, wholesale, and internal parts sales through outstanding customer service and proactive business development.
- Build strong relationships with local repair facilities, body shops, fleet customers, and commercial accounts.
- Partner closely with the Service Department to ensure technicians receive the right parts quickly and efficiently, maximizing productivity.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Parts team.
- Monitor department profitability, expenses, and key performance indicators.
- As a member of the dealership's leadership team, the Parts Manager will work closely with the Service Manager, Sales Management, Collision Centre, and Executive Management to help drive the continued success of the dealership.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Parts Manager or Assistant Parts Manager in an automotive dealership.
- General Motors dealership experience is an asset.
- Proven knowledge of inventory management, inventory turns, purchasing, and obsolescence control.
- Demonstrated success growing wholesale and retail parts sales.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A progressive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured by your ability to consistently deliver strong operational and financial results, including:
- Maintaining inventory accuracy of 98% or greater.
- Achieving healthy inventory turns while minimizing obsolete inventory.
- Growing retail, wholesale, and internal parts sales.
- Supporting technician productivity through exceptional parts availability.
- Managing inventory investment while improving departmental profitability.
- Building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and exceptional customer service.
