TDE is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to be responsible for the control and coordination of project resources and is a liaison between the Project Manager and the assigned multi-discipline Project Team. The Senior Project Engineer ensures that all project deliverables comply within the requirements of the project and align with the parameters outlined in the Project Plan. The Senior Project Engineer can also serve as Project Manager on small to medium sized projects.
Responsibilities
- Proficient with Scheduling/Planning. Consults with stakeholders to complete scheduling taking into account ongoing projects and resources.
- Works with management and discipline leads to coordinate and schedule all project work. Consults on delays and overruns.
- Collaborates with discipline managers to assign resources to the project. Reviews/approves module assignments and lists.
- Communicates with client on Contemplated Change Notices/Change Orders. Coordinates with internal resources/stakeholders to ensure that scope/schedule are understood.
- Responsible for client communication, including external meetings. Ensures agendas have been prepared and minutes/notes are taken. Follows up on action items to ensure completion.
- Facilitates internal meetings including kick-off, model reviews, RAIL, lessons learned, etc.
- Prepare/Review the procurement plan as a whole, taking the project schedule and discipline activities into account.
- Prepares/reviews major equipment requisitions. Reviews/updates TDE templates as needed. Determining and updating document deliverables. Ensuring requirements for authentication on deliverables are met by vendors.
- Arranges RAIL meetings with vendors. Addresses vendor issues with internal teams. Communicates with scheduling and PM for any delays or issues.
- Works with applications to review/understand estimates. Confirms that all project specifications, bid clarifications and adders have been considered. Reports on engineering, fabrication, QC and assembly costs to management. Works with Applications to ensure on accuracy on future estimates.
- Completes estimation of entire projects. Assists with updating internal estimation tools. Reviews overall estimates to identify gaps, errors or omissions.
- Ensures that the specification reviews are conducted and recorded. Ensures completion by all internal parties and tracks and approves exceptions.
- Ensures and monitors that the equipment designs are reviewed and the issues addressed in a timely and correct manner.
- Coordinates P&ID development. Monitors progress against schedule. Works with discipline leads to assign resources.
- Confirm mechanical design meets code and specifications or monitors project team in execution. Confirms nozzle elevations and orientations against 3D model.
- Review isometrics against piping specifications and 3D model or monitors project team in execution. Confirm all internal checks are completed. Confirms all scope interfaces are matching within the Isometrics.
- Review structural drawings based on scope of work and specifications for project or monitors project team in execution. Ensures that details have been addressed (paint specs, electrical sleeves, ramps, lifting beams/cranes)
- Coordinate input from stakeholders for plot plan development.
- Able to select instruments ensuring it meets design codes and client specifications.
- Able to review and provide input on control loops, cause and effect / shutdown key and control narrative.
- Routine trips to the shop to monitor progress of vessels, exchangers and piping. Marks up and traces P&IDs based on progress. Completes walkdown checklists.
- Reviews Inspection and Test Plans, understand them and ensures that ITPs are followed. Add or remove inspection points to ITP and review with QC manager.
- Ensures the document control management procedures are followed. Develops work flows. Generate plan for project document lists and individuals who need to review.
Qualifications
- 7 + years experience in Project Engineering.
- B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent technology degree.
- Registered and in good standing with APEGA.
- P.Eng designation.
- Proficient knowledge of industry best practices.
- Proven ability to produce high quality work while facing competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize activities, adapt to change, and stay focused in a dynamic environment.
- Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, Teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and discretion when working with confidential information.
