The role of the Maintenance Tech reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor to support the Property Management Department with the day-to-day maintenance requirements for Lonsdale Quay Market.
1. SCOPE AND PURPOSE
The Maintenance Tech is responsible for supporting and assisting the Maintenance Supervisor in executing hands-on maintenance of the common areas of the interior and exterior of the building, assist with minor repair projects, coordination of sub-trades and contractors. They’ll also be responsible for a wide range of coordination and facilitation of site-based property services, programming and marketing when required, including but not limited to, trades, service providers, like janitorial and landscaping, building strong tenant relationships, client, and guest fulfillment.
2. CORE COMPETENCIES, CHARACTERISTICS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Maintenance Tech Level 1 possesses and demonstrates the following experience and/or capabilities:
- High School Diploma
- Previous experience in building janitorial/maintenance is an asset but not required.
- Able to converse with tenants, general public and management.
- Mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing experience or exposure is an asset but not required.
- Demonstrate positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Read, Write and Speak English.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Friendly, professional, and personable demeanor.
- Ability to follow clear instruction.
- Common sense, and critical thinking.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Level 1 First Aid Training an asset, but not required.
- Experience or exposure to MS Suite is an asset, but not required.
3. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The following outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Maintenance Tech Level 1, as it relates to the onsite property maintenance for Lonsdale Quay Market:
a. Maintenance
- Check daily logs and calendars on MS Teams
- Performing regular maintenance on the facility including, but not limited to: changing light bulbs, minor carpentry, painting, minor drywall repair, minor plumbing and tile repair, general troubleshooting.
- Check all main door hardware.
- Deliver tenant memos and notices.
- Sweep and dust electrical rooms, hallways and fire exit.
- Setting up sound equipment for special events.
- Set up tables and displays for pop-up vendors.
- Set up all requested elements of promotional displays.
- Other reasonable requests from management.
- Conduct daily inspections of critical building systems, the exterior, and the building envelope to promptly identify and address issues.
- Execute daily closing procedures, including secure locking and unlocking of the facility.
- Perform and delegate routine maintenance assignments, encompassing plumbing, painting, lighting, drywall repair, door hardware maintenance, and building envelope upkeep.
- Ensure the facility's consistent maintenance and proper repair, maintaining a state of optimal functionality.
- Complete miscellaneous maintenance requests for neighbouring property, when requested.
- Attend weekly team meetings and monthly OHS training.
- Complete end of day report and submit digitally.
- Perform traffic control as and when necessary.
b. Site Safety
- Attend to First Aid incidents, as and when required.
- Complete incident reports for all incidents on site, including but not limited to slips, falls, security issues, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
