Urban Art & Metal Works is currently looking to fill additional positions in the office due to growth. Required as soon as possible two full time positions.
Seeking candidates with 5yrs+ of experience in design and drafting for metal fabrication company.
Must have a strong background in Solidworks & AutoCAD 2D designing/drafting & detailing drawings within a custom metal fabrication environment, and/or metal works projects within the construction or residential sector, such as structural steel and/or misc. metals. Strong experience in working with building codes, welding symbols and connection details.

Summary of Job Duties:
As part of the team at UAMW, you will be responsible for;
- Developing and designing intricate 3D models, detailed assembly drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings for custom metal fabrications, including miscellaneous metal and structural steel projects.
- Generate shop drawings through reverse engineering, site dimensions, and general assembly drawings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working closely with engineers to design & create fabrication and shop drawings.
- Collaborate closely with fabrication teams to address any design-related issues during the manufacturing process.
- Review and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings, specifications and other technical documents to create precise fabrication and installation drawings.
- Attend project, client, and senior management meetings when required
- Maintain excellent customer service and support in accordance with our service and quality standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Skills & Education Required:
- Completion of post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree.
- Proficiency in drafting software.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Metal Designer/Drafter proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D. (Especially Sheet Metal module).
- CSWA or CSWP certification is an asset.
- Understanding of imperial and metric systems.
- Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint. (i.e. Microsoft Environment)
- Previous experience within a fabrication or manufacturing facility is an asset.
- Produce shop drawings using AutoCAD and Solidworks for client approval, and fabrication drawings for production.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English.
- Punctual, polite, hard working employee.
Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities:
- Work under pressure, hand to eye coordination, tight deadlines, attention to detail, fast-paced environment.
- Position requires high levels of mental acuity, keyboard skills, ability to sit/stand for extended periods of time, occasional exposure to inclement weather may be required. (Mostly long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.)

Position is 40 hrs. per week in the office. NO remote work is offered or available due to the projects we work with.
Wage & Hours:
Hourly wage, paid bi-weekly
Working hours M-F 8:30 - 5:00 pm expected ability to be productive for 40-44 hours per week.
Benefits: MyHSA benefits wallet. After 3 months this plan is available at $500.00. Increasing to $1000.00 / year to a max of $5000 a year.
