About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving individual to join our team as a Veterinary Assistant / Clinic Maintenance Assistant.
This is a mixed role that includes hands-on support with animal care and veterinary team assistance, as well as outdoor maintenance, cleaning, and general hospital upkeep. The ideal candidate is dependable, physically capable, takes pride in keeping the clinic clean and organized, and is comfortable helping wherever needed.
Key ResponsibilitiesVeterinary Assistant Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient handling and restraint
- Help prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical areas
- Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, exam rooms, equipment, and workspaces
- Feed, walk, and monitor hospitalized or visiting patients as needed
- Restock medical supplies, cleaning supplies, and clinic inventory
- Assist with laundry, instrument cleaning, and general treatment area organization
- Support the team with daily clinic flow and patient care tasks
- Maintain a calm, compassionate, and professional approach with pets and clients
Cleaning and Hospital Maintenance Duties
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the clinic, including reception, exam rooms, treatment areas, washrooms, staff areas, floors, and windows
- Empty garbage and recycling, and ensure the clinic remains tidy and presentable
- Perform routine deep-cleaning tasks as assigned
- Help identify maintenance issues and report them promptly
- Assist with basic repairs, organization, and general facility upkeep
Outdoor and Lawn Maintenance Duties
- Perform general outdoor cleaning and property maintenance
- Maintain lawn and garden areas, including watering, weeding, trimming, and seasonal cleanup
- Keep sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, and outdoor spaces clean and safe
- Assist with snow clearing, salting, or seasonal property needs when required
- Ensure the exterior of the clinic remains clean, welcoming, and professional
Qualifications
- Previous veterinary clinic, animal care, cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, or facility upkeep experience is an asset
- Comfortable working around dogs and cats of different sizes, temperaments, and medical conditions
- Physically able to lift, bend, kneel, walk, clean, and perform outdoor work as required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, organized environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to support the team wherever needed
- Good communication skills and a professional, respectful manner
- Must be comfortable with both animal care duties and hands-on maintenance duties
