Keyano College’s Information Technology Services Department is currently seeking a Data Base Analyst to join their dynamic team. The Database Analyst’s role is to design, install, and maintain production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability, and system resiliency. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Included in the responsibilities of this position is the implementation of audit, logging, and monitoring solutions to provide proactive operational support.
Working with the ERP team, the Database Analyst will develop a strategy to support the integration of on premise and cloud-based enterprise applications. This work will tie in to a larger data warehouse and enterprise reporting framework. Creating required reports, data sets or ETL in response to business user needs is also a key function of this position.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB.

- Design and maintain database and data warehouse structures to support business and application needs.
- Monitor database performance and resolve access, reliability, and efficiency issues.
- Provide technical support for applications that use organizational databases.
- Plan and coordinate data migrations, system integrations, and data transfers between platforms.
- Manage database changes, testing, and quality assurance processes to ensure system stability.
- Develop and maintain reports, datasets, ETL processes, and data solutions to support business operations.
- Implement monitoring, auditing, logging, backup, and security controls to protect data and support operations.
- Perform database maintenance activities, including upgrades, patching, and ongoing performance improvements.
- Develop database strategies, architecture standards, governance practices, and disaster recovery solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Participate in technology projects, develop technical documentation, write scripts to enhance system functionality, and provide guidance to junior team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree/Diploma in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in the management and troubleshooting of MS-SQL databases, queries, and development of ETL code and integrations
- One of the many available industry certifications in SQL (Microsoft MCSA or similar)
- Competency with XML constructs and schemas. Knowledge of programming, scripting methods, and best practices is required
- Experience in working with or managing a data warehouse and report/dashboard modeling (preferably Azure Data Lake or similar cloud-based solutions)
- Project management experience
- Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with API protocols and schemas such as SOAP and REST
- Experience working with other SQL platforms (MySQL, etc.) would be desirable.
- Familiarity with change management processes, testing methodology, and agile development methodology
- A collaborative and approachable style with an ability to build consensus with competing departments
- Ability to communicate effectively with and influence end user clients
- Experience in the education sector (preferably Post-secondary) is a plus

- Compensation is $76,108.66 (CUPE TS8-1) with the following health and benefit package.
