Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and reliable Community Inclusion Support Worker to support our family member in building a meaningful and connected life in the community.
Reporting to the family, this role focuses on facilitating participation in community activities, employment opportunities, and social groups aligned with the individual’s interests. This is a part-time position for approximately 28 hours per week.
About the Role:
The person being supported is a vibrant young adult who enjoys being around others and has a strong passion for sports. As they continue to grow, their goals include exploring community groups, clubs, and employment opportunities.
This role is key in supporting them to:
· Build meaningful relationships
· Develop new skills
· Gain confidence and independence
· Experience a strong sense of belonging in their community
We are looking for someone who is engaging, adaptable, and enthusiastic-a person who is willing to connect with the individual’s interests and provide support both at home and in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
· Build a positive and respectful relationship with the individual
· Provide attentive, person-centred supports tailored to their needs
· Plan, coordinate, and participate in community-based activities
· Identify and facilitate opportunities for community engagement
· Encourage social interactions, inclusion and companionship with others
· Support skill development through daily activities and experiences
· Follow and implement safety plans in home and community settings
· Work independently while maintaining open communication with the family and support team
· Respond calmly and effectively to complex or unexpected situations
· Communicate concerns promptly and professionally
· Model positive behaviour and support ongoing personal growth
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Reliable, dependable, and highly organized
· Demonstrated understanding of inclusion and community engagement
· Ability to problem-solve and adapt in dynamic situations
· Valid class 5 Driver’s Licence
· Reliable vehicle with minimum $2 million liability insurance
· Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
· Valid First Aid and CPR certification
· Ability to commute to Parkland County
Assets:
· Experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities or diverse support needs
· Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) or equivalent
· Trauma-informed care training
· Abuse Prevention Response Protocol (APRP) training
