Job Title: Electrician
Job Summary: We are hiring an Electrician on behalf of our manufacturing client in the London area! In this role, you will be responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and control devices to support safe and efficient plant operations. Working collaboratively with the maintenance team, you will interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and complete preventative maintenance activities that maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure continuous production.
Job Type: Full-time, permanent.
Job Location: London, ON. 100% on-site.
Shift Structure: Monday to Friday; Straight Day Shift + occasional OT when needed
Compensation Structure: $43.00/hour-$46.00/hour (depending on experience).
Responsibilities:
· Install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, fixtures, and control devices throughout the facility.
· Perform scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
· Diagnose equipment malfunctions using appropriate testing equipment and complete timely, effective repairs.
· Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings, and Ontario Electrical Code specifications to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
· Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies and all applicable health and safety, food safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and documentation.
· Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of preventive maintenance programs and master maintenance plans.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by tracking downtime, monitoring line efficiency, analyzing equipment performance, and identifying opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
· Lead and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other problem-solving initiatives to improve equipment reliability.
· Perform critical equipment analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
· Support Autonomous Maintenance activities, including equipment inspections, basic cleaning, and identifying sources of contamination to maintain equipment in like-new condition.
· Identify and recommend new technologies, processes, and best practices to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
· Coordinate the purchase of maintenance services, replacement parts, and equipment components as required.
· Conduct safety inspections, participate as an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), and promote a strong safety culture.
· Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to apprentices and other maintenance team members as required.
· Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and support plant operations.
· Assist with additional maintenance, continuous improvement, and facility projects as assigned by management.
· Perform other duties as required to support operational needs.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Certified and Licensed Industrial Electrician (required)
· Minimum 3 years of industrial electrical troubleshooting and maintenance experience
· Experience working in an industrial manufacturing or maintenance environment
· Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code
· Hands-on experience with PLCs, including Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500 and RSLogix 5000
· PLC Control System Experience
· Experience with HMI systems, including PanelView and PanelView Plus
· Familiarity with ERP/CMMS systems; experience with IBM Maximo is considered an asset
· Solid understanding of relay controls, transformers (high and low voltage), calibration, and instrumentation
· Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) experience is considered an asset
· Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work accurately, efficiently, and independently while demonstrating initiative
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
· Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are an asset
· Willingness to travel occasionally, as required (minimal travel)
