Infant and Toddler Educator
Position Summary
The Infant and Toddler Educator is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children from birth to 36 months of age. The educator supports children's physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and language development through responsive caregiving, age-appropriate activities, and positive interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide quality care and supervision for infants and toddlers in accordance with licensing regulations and daycare policies.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support early learning and development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Support children's routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting, napping, and transitions.
- Observe, document, and communicate children's developmental progress and daily activities with parents and guardians.
- Promote positive behavior guidance and emotional well-being.
- Ensure all health, safety, and emergency procedures are followed.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and program operations.
Qualifications
- Valid Infant and Toddler Educator Certificate recognized in British Columbia.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Valid Criminal Record Check clearance.
- Knowledge of child development and early learning principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to lift and carry children and perform physical duties associated with childcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed childcare setting.
- Familiarity with BC Early Learning Framework.
- Additional training in child development, inclusion support, or special needs.
Working Conditions
- Full-time or part-time position.
- Indoor and outdoor supervision of children.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and active engagement with children.
