Job Description
BMD Transportation is looking to hire AZ open deck (flatbed/stepdeck/RGN/Double Drop) drivers to work from our Kingston, ON depot delivering customer product to locations and jobs sites in within a 1000 mile radius. Including cross border trips into the US.
Position Requirements:
- Valid A/Z driver’s license
- Valid passport
- Criminal Background Check
- Minimum of 2 years verifiable tractor & flat/step driving experience
- Clean CVOR
- Good communication skills
- Flexibility to accommodate different start times
- Ability to work 50+ hours/week
Responsibilities:
- Operate a manual transmission highway tractor with a 53' trailers and extendable trailer adhering to all road safety requirements
- Perform inspections of tractor trailer unit before, during, and after trips, including gauges, lighting and electrical systems, and visual checks of potential water, oil, fuel and air leaks
- Completing all applicable paperwork.
- Maintain up-to-date Driver Log throughout the duration of each shift.
- Responsible for communicating with Dispatch.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and co-workers in a professional manner
- Be able to perform physical work (lifting in excess of 50lbs)
- Observe and comply with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Transportation and the Highway Traffic Act
- Secure and unsecure loads using straps and chains
- $26/hr during probation period
